Aleksandra Šuklar was born in 1991 in Novi Sad, Serbia. She started her musical education at the age of 5, playing violin. She recieved first percussion lessons in 2002.
She finished her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees with
Nebojša Jovan Živković at MUK – The Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2016.
Simultaneously, she studied at the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna with Bogdan Bacanu and Josef Gumpinger.
Aleksandra Šuklar is a prizewinner of many national and international competitions in Slovenia, Austria, Spain, Bulgaria, and Croatia.
The latest competition for which she received the prize was the Fidelio Competition in Vienna in 2015 (she was also the winner in 2014).
She has also made recordings for the radio stations ORF-Austria, RTV- Slovenia, and HRT- Croatia.
Aleksandra Šuklar has regularly performed as a soloist and chamber musician at such festivals as Gustav Mahler Musikwochen, Wien Modern, Festival der Kroatischen Musik in Wien, Samobor music Festival, Ivana Bilić Marimba Week, NOMUS, Vienna Saxfest and Festival Maribor, among others.
Aleksandra has collaborated with various ensembles and orchestras, including Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Die Reihe, Ensemble XX Jahrhundert, Wiener Klangkommune, Zagreb soloists, Symphony Orchestra of Vienna State Opera, ORF Radio Symphonieorchester Wien, Wiener Kammerorchester, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV-Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Maribor Festival Orchestra.
She was a scholarship recipient of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture from 2013 to 2015. In 2016 she received the Start-Scholarship of Austrian Chancellor as one of the most outstanding young artists living in Vienna.
